   → Alma is connected to each and every ghoul in the world and, although aware of it, she does not care. However, because of this, she has the ability to bring out a ghoul’s kakuho with a simple touch. She won't really do this tho. She also has a really nice scent to ghosts, something warm and comforting that reminds them of a mother.

   → Alma still doesn't really understand a lot of emotions like "love" or things of that nature, but she is slowly learning, so pls be patient with her thank you.

   → IF YOU INTERACT WITH DAISUKE OR ALMA ON THE SAME TIME LINE, EXPECT YOUR CHARACTER TO BE QUESTIONED ABOUT IT EVENTUALLY. They will notice, bc your character is going to smell like Daisuke/Alma.

APPEARANCE

Standing at 4'9'', Alma has a petite and fragile look about her and is often mistaken for a middle schooler due to her height. Her figure is generally lithe and she does not have much curve to her save for her hips, but she has a tendency to hide her body beneath baggy sweaters and jackets. When eating healthy, she appears more filled out, although she still is a scrawny, tiny thing.

Due to people latching onto her hair (which had been waist-length), she cut it off nearly two years ago, but it has grown out some. Short, choppy, and uneven raven locks now fall to her chin and often get into her azure eyes if she's not careful. Sometimes, she'll pin them back with bobby pins or hair clips.

To all ghouls, she has a really nice and warm smell -- she smells like a mom would, basically.

PERSONALITY

While she still holds onto some of her childlike behavior and naivety, Alma's personality has calmed somewhat to finally being able to unlock the memories of her past life. While the original mother ghoul has not entirely merged with Alma, the young ghoul has developed DID with the original mother ghoul as the other personality. For the most part, however, Alma is usually the one in control and at the forefront of the system.

The childish side of Alma is definitely hard to suppress, especially when she is around someone or something that interests her. She is easily excitable and has a burning curiosity for the world around her. She wants to know about everything! She is generally upbeat and friendly, always ready and willing to initiate conversation with anyone. She loves making friends and is fiercely loyal and protective of said friends.

As for the other personality, the original mother ghoul (aka: mama!alma), she is a lot like Alma, but much more calm, mature, and motherly. She rarely comes out, however, preferring to just remain as a sort of voice of reason for Alma.

GENERAL HISTORY

For ten years, a small group of both ghouls and ghoul fanatics worked to try and replicate the DNA of what they believe to be the first ghoul to exist. Working in utter secrecy, they continued to have disappointment after disappointment until, finally, the DNA they introduced into an early developing fetus was successful. Nine months later, Alma was born.

Kept in utter isolation, Alma only knew those on the team as they conducted their experiments on her as well as the ghoul mother/host who had birthed her. After the disaster of eating her “mother” and one of the other scientists when she was seven years old, she was kept highly guarded and had to be restrained in various ways whenever tests were conducted on her to keep the other scientists safe.

What their goal of regenerating the first ghoul, or “Mother Ghoul” as they called her, was, she was never enlightened, but she was made aware that she was something special. She retains memories of her life before, but the scientists learned quickly that they were sealed away and could only be accessed under heavy sedation and hypnosis. Alma has almost no recollection of her first life, save for certain things that helped shape her personality.

A few days after her fifteenth birthday, Alma escaped the compound she was kept in, devouring those in the area as well as destroying anything in her path. Consequently, very few knowing of her existence were left alive and her escape has not been made public to the humans nor ghouls.

A year after she had escaped from the lab, Alma went completely off the grid, disappearing underground once she caught wind of rumors that there was another branch of scientists who had cropped up and had supposedly recreated the father ghoul. While not entirely sure if the rumor was true and not particularly wanting to validate it (the idea of the father ghoul makes her brain hurt in ways she definitely doesn't like), Alma was very careful to conceal her identity from those she met while drifting around Japan.

Realizing that there were other ghouls out there much stronger than she was, she began training her body and rapidly grew better at hand to hand combat as well as combat with her kakuhou. She ended up getting a bit of a name for herself as a cannibal after she began eating stronger ghouls she had defeated to help alter her kagune and gain more strength. Although no one really is aware that it's Alma, as she was wise enough to continue conceal her identity by hiding her face and change out masks every few weeks. She has not exhbited any signs of being a kakuja, although her kagune has evolved from only having six spider leg like appendages to having a scorpion like tail as well.

Six months after she went off grid, she left the country completely, disappearing into China for a year and a half, afraid of being found by the scientists she hadn't managed to murder, the CCG, and ghouls who were looking to exploit her status and power. A year and a half later, she worked her way back to Japan, still keeping a lowkey profile as she drifts around wards.

Almost perfect, that’s what she had been. But her eyes, oh those glowing, yellow eyes that belonged only to the first two generations of Synths, those wretched eyes damned her to the scrap heap. Disappointment was bitter on her tongue as she sees the scientists shaking their heads, fear flows through her lab-grown veins and makes her lab-grown heart pump an erratic, painful rhythm against her chest. These are new feelings, so overwhelming in their nature that she finds herself almost dizzy, the bright lights of the room blinding her as her pupils expand, her mind frantically trying to adjust to this strange, new world.

One moment she had been a string of zeroes and ones, the next she had been “born” into an artificially made body, surrounded by the hushed voices of her creators, their gentle smiles and gazes.

But they had not been pleased by her eyes and they’re not quite sure how it happened; a slip-up maybe, but either way it is an accident that will not do. So they order her to wait for termination without so much as batting an eye. After all, she is just a machine, even if she had been created to think and feel like a human.

The next thing she remembers, she is waking up in an unfamiliar landscape, ragged and barren, kissed by the atom bombs that had dropped almost two centuries ago. She does not know how this came to be, but doesn’t question it, merely sends up a silent thanks to her “guardian angel” before she slips off to carve out a life in the Wasteland.

This is a Fallout verse, particularly set around Fallout 4 as that is when Synths were properly introduced. Alma is an early generation 3 Synth prototype and was considered a mistake since her eyes were what made her stand out as not human. For those who are unfamiliar with the Fallout verse and what Synths are, here is a short rundown of generation 3 Synths:

❝ Generation 3 synths are physically and mentally indistinguishable from ordinary humans, having lab-grown bodies of real human flesh, bones, and organs instead of plastic and metal. As Dr. Roslyn Chambers found, no medical tests or procedures can out someone as a synth without killing them (synths that infiltrate settlements, for example, only drop synth components when killed), and psychological tests, such as Covenant’s SAFE test, are dubious at best. However, they are not perfect duplicates, and have a few key differences from humans that are not immediately obvious: synths do not age, nor can they gain or lose weight. ❞

Although she is a generation 3 Synth, she is still a prototype and, as such, is a lot more like Nick Valentine and DiMA. While she looks exactly like a human, save for her eyes, and even has human flesh, beneath her exterior lies a mixture of mechanical and synthetic organs, tissue, and bones. While she was given the option to basically grow her own personality freely, she still has moments where she acts like a bot – think Curie as a Synth, but not as extreme.

Knowing how most people feel about Synths, Alma has been very careful to keep away from other humans and, afraid that she might be taken back to the Institute, she’s also kept well away from other Synths as well. For the most part, she keeps to the more uninhabited parts of the Wasteland (particularly around the Commonwealth) and has, currently, found herself a well hidden cave that she has taken up residence in.

This verse is open to anyone and everyone and it doesn’t particularly have to be set in the Fallout world~!

THE CAGED BIRD SINGS WITH FEARFUL TRILL

A sterile hospital room is no place for a child to live, to blossom. A child cannot grow in a dark place of fear -- they need love, they need a family, otherwise they will develop into something twisted, something monstrous. She’s already showing alarming signs of the violence that flares hot in her veins, eyes cold and nothing like a child’s should be as she watches those that surround her like a predator tracking it’s prey. Maybe that’s why those who broke Alma out of her prison did so or, perhaps, they were just hoping to sabotage the plans her creators had dreamed up for her and her species.

Waking up cold and alone in a world she had only head of in whispers, it takes her a bit to fully grasp that this isn’t some kind of trick, that this isn’t another experiment. And when the reality of her freedom hits her, she takes off like a bird in flight, never looking back.

This is an AU where Alma has “escaped” (someone pretty much smuggled her out lol) the lab a little earlier than in the OU. Everything that has happened to her in her past still applies up until this point -- so, yes, she’s still a clone of the mother ghoul and, yes, she still killed her mother and a scientist and ate them.

In this AU, Alma is eight years old. She has a tendency to stay away from adults as she has an extreme dislike and distrust of them due to her creators. Her personality is vastly different; she’s shy, quiet, wary, and everything is new and a little scary to her. Understand that she’s been raised in an underground room her entire life and barely knows about the outside world except what her creators have told her, so she’s not quite normal.

Like in the OU, she does hear the voice of the mother and even talks to her, much like a child would with an imaginary friend.

At the age of fifteen, Alma was scouted by a record company representative during one of her school’s choir concerts in which she sang lead and it was all uphill from there. After three rather arduous try outs, she was placed as a trainee at her record company where she would spend almost all of her nights after school let out practicing various skills with other girls her age. She was trained to dance, act, model and sing and after three years, she was finally placed in a tentative group with five other girls called Shooting Star. Now, they are hard at work preparing for their debut. It’s sink or swim at this point as everything is riding on their debut; if they’re popular enough, the record company will give them a contract. If not, well…

This is 100% a self-indulgent AU because I’m kpop trash and thought it would be fun if Alma was a jpop idol. In this AU, she is eighteen years of age and a human, so YAY SHE CAN FINALLY EAT FOOD??? Except not really because her manager has her and the other girls on strict diets so they can maintain their figures. But, she still sneaks food, so……

It’s also important to note that Alma is an oprhan and grew up in an orphanage, but once she was assigned to a group she moved into a “dorm” with the other five girls. It’s basically an apartment where they all live and each girl shares a room with each other.

It’s also super important to know that Alma, like most IRL Idols, is under a strict love-ban, which basically means she can’t be caught dating because it would “soil” the attainable image Idols are supposed to have. Consequences when caught are pretty severe and, IRL, one girl had to shave her head on camera as a way of atonement and apologize profusely before she was kicked out of her group. Also, most girls are assigned buddies in their group and are constantly under watch, but I’m gonna be a little lenient with these rules just because….. how the hell is Alma gonna make friends outside of the record company?

Although life is tough as an Idol, Alma sticks with it because she literally has nothing else going for her. She has no family outside of the girls of her group which means she has no one to rely on if she were to leave the company.
